In Their Honor

Being a veteran in the US happens to be of great importance due to the service these men and women had given to their country by the time they were enrolled in the Navy, Air force and Army.

For this reason every year on November 11th these wonderful people are honored around the US. In Seattle for example, a Service of Remembrance is held in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery which is located in Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park. Special Band Music, Flags Placement, Taps and a Rifle Salute make this ceremony memorial to all veterans and their families in especial to those families whose beloved Commanders, Soldiers, Lieutenants and Nurses had passed away.

I decided to go to Calvary, a Catholic Cemetery which is on the NE 65th St to look for graves of people who had fought for their country, to my surprise as I was walking along the paths down the hill I found many last resting places of those who participated in the World War I, II, Pearl Harbor among others, I was amazed by the importance these people are given despite not being around anymore for example by placing on their graves words of what they were participants of and their rolls. In addition I saw some families visiting their dears and leaving a Flag on the place they are now resting in peace.

I would have to mention that it has been an honor for me getting to know how highly important it is for Americans to show respect to those who work and worked, fight and fought for their country.

  1. Hello,

I agree with you, we sometimes don't realize how important it was for Americans and the rest of the world that the US participated with many soldiers in WWI and WWII. And it is nice to see that soldiers are remembered with honor and respect.

    Nice pics.

  2. Hi Aida!,
Nice to read you. I agree on both points considered in your description. The one the US people honor their heroes, since it is what they are. People who died serving to the country and not being forgotten or ignored like in other countries.
And second is honor. Not only respect but also a valuable feeling for those who deserve a place in every man's mind and memory because what we are enjoying now in the country, it is thanks to them, after have fought for freedom and a better future.
    Happy weekend to you Aida.
